PSYPACT stands for “Psychology Compact” and is essentially an agreement between states designed to increase accessibility of therapy services for the public. It allows psychologists to practice telepsychology and/or provide temporary in-person face-to-face services across state boundaries legally and ethically without having to become licensed in every state.

I have chosen to become a PSYPACT clinician through holding what is called an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT). What this means is that I can see any client virtually who is not physically located in my home state of Michigan as long as they are in a PSYPACT participating state. This can be beneficial if you are traveling for work or school, if you move out of Michigan, or if you found me from a PSYPACT participating state and feel I am the best fit for your needs.

To become a PSYPACT clinician, I had to go through additional background certification and am required to complete yearly continuing education courses in the practice of teletherapy.

Below is a map of participating states as well as future legislation.
