“The oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived.”

– Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan

Most of us have experienced at least one trauma in our lifetimes. While it does not always translate into full-blown Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, these experiences can impact subtle behaviors and belief systems. Sometimes, a trauma or series of traumas can result in disruptive and painful symptoms that make it challenging to feel safe in relationships, regulate emotions, and may even make us feel so disconnected from ourselves that it feels as if we are floating above our bodies.

Trauma results in disconnection, which means the therapeutic treatment would be to re-connect. If you engage in trauma treatment with me, we will focus on psycho-education about trauma brain, the adaptive nature of harmful behaviors and thoughts, and re-connecting different parts of the self. Even if you don’t believe you have experienced a “Big T” trauma, you may be struggling with symptoms consistent with trauma brain and could benefit from trauma-informed treatment.
